Welcome to the members portal
If you have already registered, please login.
If you have not registered, please read about memberships and register
If you are a descendant of Captain John Denison, we invite you to become a member of St. John’s Cemetery on the Humber. Membership helps preserve this historic cemetery and keeps our family connected across generations. Sign up to stay informed, participate in family events, and support the ongoing care of this special place.
Family members can register for free to see family information. But we encourage you to register for a corporate membership. The dues from corporate membership supports the maintenance of the cemetery and gives you voting rights at the Annual General Meeting of the corporation.
Further details are below or click the Register button.

Family Member – Free
Family Members are descendants of Captain John Denison (1755-1823). You have the right to be buried in St John’s Cemetery on the Humber. If you’re a family member, please make sure that you’re listed in the family tree. When the time comes, it makes it easier to determine eligibility for burial.
Registration provides you with access to extensive family archives and historical information. You’ll also receive periodic notification of events and news.

Corporate Members – Fees required
Corporate Member are Family Members who have paid regular dues that support the cemetery. Memberships are valid for as long as they’re paid. As well as the rights of a Family Member, Corporate Members can vote on corporate motions at the annual meeting or special meetings that year.
Corporate membership also includes access to the Burial Registry. The Burial Registry lists everyone buried in the cemetery along with links to FindAGrave with photos of their memorial stone, the family tree showing how you’re related, and – for some – a direct link showing the location of the grave on a digital survey/map of the cemetery.
We have a number of payment options for you to pay your membership dues.

Monthly recurring – $5.00 / Month
Monthly Corporate Regular Members are Family Members who are paying an automatically recurring small monthly fee for membership.

Yearly recurring – $55 / Year recurring
Yearly Corporate Regular Members are Family Members who are paying a automatically recurring yearly fee for membership.

One Year non-recurring – $60 / Year
One Year Corporate Regular Members are Family Members who have paid for a year long membership. This membership expires after a year.

Important: If you have already paid your Lifetime membership dues, please click on the “Existing Life Member” button. From there, you can register as a life member but you won’t be charged as you’ve already paid your lifetime membership dues. We’ll contact you should we not be able to find you in our lifetime membership registry.
Please only click on Existing Life Member if you truly have previously paid for a Lifetime membership (or someone paid for you such as your parents).

Family Tree
We use the family tree to help determine eligibility for burial in the cemetery. It’s important that it be kept up-to-date so that – when the time comes – we can quickly determine eligibility for burial in the cemetery. It’s never too early to tell us about a new partner or child. Or if a relationship unfortunately ends.
Please check out the family tree and contact us with updates.
Births, marriages, and deaths
As we receive news we’ll post updates on new family members as well as family members lost.
Please join our Facebook group “Denison Family of Toronto”. There is a lot of conversations and folks posting family information. Please search for the group and click join. Access to this group is restricted to Family Members only. Therefore, we will ask you a couple of questions about your ancestry to help determine who you are. Please watch for Facebook messages in case we have questions.
Detailed Family History
More family information that we don’t make as widely available.
Stay tuned. We’re going to be packing a lot of material into this section.
Family Tree Update
We keep the family tree to help us all know our relationship to each other. It also helps us determine eligibility for burial quickly at the time-of-need.
Please use this form to update us on changes to your part of the family tree.

As a corporate member, you also have access to the following corporate material as well as the very interesting Burial Registry.
Annual General Meeting
For as long as most of us can remember, the annual general meeting (and bbq) has been held at the cemetery on the Tuesday closest to the summer solstice. Each year, a notice goes out to all family. Watch for it.
Minutes and other material are published and are available by clicking on the button below.
Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporation Act Compliance
In 2010, the Ontario government updated the requirements for documentation that governs non-for-profit corporation. In 2024, substantial effort was put into preparing our documents for submission to the government. These documents govern how we manage the corporation. We also have cemetery operating by-laws that are in the process of being updated.
Burial Ledger
We keep careful records of all burials in a ledger (or registry). Since the early 1800’s, the records were kept in 2 ledger books. Starting in the 2020’s we created a digital version of the ledger.
A summary view of the ledger is available to corporate members. For many of the 400+ records, there are associated links to FindAGrave with photos, the family tree, and the digital survey/map of the cemetery. Please explore.
